Can I upload or import my list of contacts for mass texts?

No. Unfortunately, it is not possible to upload or import a list of contacts for mass texts. To protect the integrity of our systems and message delivery rates for all customers, all subscribers that receive mass texts sent from Parachute must opt-in to give their permission. Your subscribers only need to opt-in once and the process is as simple as sending a single text message. After a recipient sends the opt-in text message to your dedicated Parachute phone number, they will instantly be eligible to receive mass texts from your account. To remain in compliance with all major telecom carriers when routing outbound text messages to mobile phone numbers on other networks, we must verify that you actually have permission to send texts to your list of contacts. Otherwise, allowing everyone to blindly send mass texts to any phone number they upload through our system without any oversight would create the perfect conditions for fraud and spam. Sending unsolicited spam messages to recipients that have not given their permission for you to use their phone number is not permitted. As a result, all your contacts must opt-in to receive mass texts from your Parachute account.

How do my subscribers sign up for mass texts?

After you login to your Parachute account, create a new SMS keyword. For example, “PIZZA PROMO”. Next, click the keyword details link and you will see automatically generated opt-in instructions that you will need to provide to your contacts. For example, Text “PIZZA PROMO” to 312-555-0000 to sign up! Your contacts just need to send a text message to your dedicated Parachute phone number with the magic keyword phrase (“PIZZA PROMO” or whatever keyword phrase that you want to use) and that’s it. Anyone can sign up for your mass texts by just sending a single text with your magic keyword phrase to your dedicated Parachute phone number. The dedicated Parachute phone number can be found on the keyword details page in your Parachute account dashboard.

Can I upload or import my list of contacts for mass emails?

Yes! You can easily import your email contacts with just a few clicks. After you login to your Parachute account, create a new email keyword. For example, “PIZZA FRIDAY”. Next, click the Keyword to go to the Keyword Details page. On the Keyword Details page, you will see step by step instructions for importing your email contacts list. Simply prepare your email contacts list in the correct CSV file format using our sample file as a guide, add your Sender Name and click the file upload button. Immediately after you click the upload button, our system will send an opt-in verification link email to all email addresses listed in your uploaded CSV file. Your email recipients will need to click this verification link to verify their email address BEFORE you can start sending mass emails to each contact. When you send mass emails, your emails will ONLY be delivered to the contacts that have already clicked the email verification link. Your recipients only need to click this verification link one time. After a recipient clicks the verification link once, they will be eligible to receive all your mass emails regardless of which email keywords you use to send mass emails. To protect the integrity of our systems and our overall email delivery rates for all customers, we must verify that you actually have permission to send emails to your list of contacts. Otherwise, allowing everyone to blindly send emails to any email address they upload through our system without any oversight would create the perfect conditions for fraud and spam. Sending unsolicited spam messages to recipients that have not given their permission for you to use their email address is not permitted.

What are custom keywords and how do they work?

The Parachute system uses keywords to ensure the right messages get sent to the right subscribers. Keywords are essentially like unique identifier contact lists, and you can use keywords to separate specific contacts on specific contact lists for mass texts and emails. When you need to send mass texts or mass emails, simply select the keyword for the recipient field and any contacts subscribed to each specific keyword will receive the mass texts and mass emails. You can create an unlimited number of keywords with unlimited subscribers per keyword and when you need to send a message, you can select both email keywords and text message keywords at the same time. For example, if Jane and John are signed up for your “PIZZA PROMO” text message keyword, Jane and John will receive all mass texts sent under the “PIZZA PROMO” keyword.

Can I send and receive MMS texts that include photos?

Yes! You can send and receive MMS picture messages for both mass texts and single send text messages.

Can I attach files to mass email messages?

Yes! You can attach files to outbound mass email messages and Parachute supports the following file formats: jpg, jpeg, png and gif.

Can I port my phone number in or out?

No. Parachute does not offer phone number porting services and we can't port your existing phone number from another provider over to Parachute. The only way to use Parachute is with the dedicated phone number provided with your Parachute account. Parachute can't port your Parachute number from Parachute to a new provider. We would hate to see you cancel your Parachute subscription, but if you do, your Parachute phone number can't be ported to a different provider.

Does Parachute automatically charge my card monthly?

Yes. Parachute subscriptions are billed monthly. Your payment method will be automatically charged every 30 days for your Parachute subscription plan, plus any applicable overages.

How do I cancel my Parachute account?

We would hate to see you leave and our customer support team is always here to help, but if you need to close your Parachute account, you can do it on your own directly from the Parachute account dashboard. Simply login to your Parachute account, click the “Settings” link on the left side, then click the “Close Account” link. From there, just click the “Close Account” button at the bottom of the Close Account page to cancel your Parachute subscription. If you need help, please contact our customer support team and we will close your account for you if needed.

How are text messages counted?

Each text message (SMS and MMS) is limited to a maximum of 160 characters. If an outbound text message exceeds the limits set either by Parachute, or by the carrier delivering your Text Message (as applicable), your text message may be sent or delivered as a series of consecutive text messages, which will utilize more of your usage under your Parachute subscription plan. For example, if you send an outbound text message that includes 170 characters of text, 2 text messages will be deducted from your monthly text message allotment. If your text message usage in the monthly billing cycle exceeds the number of text messages included with your monthly subscription plan, text message overage fees will be incurred at a rate of $0.02 USD per text message sent. You can upgrade or downgrade your monthly subscription plan at any time. There are no extra surcharges for sending or receiving MMS messages and all inbound text messages are FREE.

Can I send and receive international text messages?

Yes! All Parachute accounts include a dedicated phone number and international texting is supported. For customers in the USA and Canada, if you send messages to, or receive messages from an international phone number (outside USA or Canada), international usage fees will be billed to your account on top of your flat rate monthly subscription price. For customers in the United Kingdom, if you send messages to, or receive messages from an international phone number (outside United Kingdom), international usage fees will be billed to your account on top of your flat rate monthly subscription price. Our international texting rates are very competitive, but the prices will vary by country and region. Please contact for more information on international texting rates. USA customers can text numbers in the USA and Canada without international usage fees. Canada customers can text numbers in the USA and Canada without international usage fees. UK customers can text numbers in the United Kingdom without international usage fees.

How many subscribers can I have?

Unlimited! There are no limits on the number of subscribers or the number of keywords for your Parachute account. You can have as many subscribers as you want, and you can use an unlimited number of keywords to manage your subscribers.

Are there any additional costs?

All Parachute pricing plans are billed at flat rate monthly prices and include a specific number of messages per month. If you exceed the monthly allotment of messages included with your pricing plan, your account will be billed for any usage overages at a rate of $0.02 USD per message over your included monthly allotment. Additionally, for customers in the USA and Canada, if you send messages to, or receive messages from an international phone number (outside USA or Canada), international usage fees will be incurred, and vary based on country and region. For customers in the United Kingdom, if you send messages to, or receive messages from an international phone number (outside United Kingdom), international usage fees will be incurred, and vary based on country and region. USA customers can text numbers in the USA and Canada without international usage fees. Canada customers can text numbers in the USA and Canada without international usage fees. Can I schedule messages to be sent in the future?

Yes! You can send messages right this second or you can schedule your messages to be sent at some point in the future. Simply use the scheduler tool at the bottom of the Send New Message page to pick a specific time in the future and our systems will send your message at the selected time. All times are displayed in Eastern Standard Time.
